Every deck, to scale

Height above sea level is not the same as how tall the building is.

Drawn from sea level, not from each tower's own doorstep, with a gold line at every ticketed level. It is why N Seoul Tower's observatory — barely 190 m up its own tower — looks down on One World Observatory, 391 m above Manhattan: Namsan has already lifted it 270 m before the structure starts, and cloud does not care which of the two got you there.

Heights above sea level and every gold deck line are measured values — ground elevation from terrain data, structural heights from CTBUH or the operator, ticketed levels from the operator. Tower widths are schematic: real footprints differ by an order of magnitude, and drawing those to scale as well would reduce Burj Khalifa to a hairline. The method

How it works

    Altitude, not elevation

    Ground elevation plus how high the ticketed level physically sits, added together, is a deck's real viewing altitude — then we set that against where the cloud base or haze layer sits today.

  2. 02

    One word, not a percentage

    That comparison, plus operations, wind, rain and visibility, resolves to one of three verdicts — VIEW, MAYBE or SKIP — not a cloud-cover number you'd have to interpret yourself.

  3. 03

    The hours that matter

    A day is rarely uniform. When it isn't, we name the window worth going up in, instead of averaging morning, noon and evening into one number that describes none of them.
